In Mac systems, learned words are kept permanently in /Users//Library/Spelling (so a word learned by the system spell checker is also learned for all the applications using the system spell checker).
In addition to suggestions for corrections, the following options and functions are provided by the spell checker in 4D (in the context menu and/or the spell checker dialog box):
