It's just really cool (and novel, at least to me).įun Fact about 911 dispatching is disturbing and stressful as all Hell! I know this from my big sister, she used to do it in the past. I have no idea if failing to resolve the situation is a possible ending so the "monster kills protagonist" thing is mostly speculation but if you ask me I think it's a pretty solid one) I know this is probably a stupid comment because it's very obvious and the video is pretty old but I just really like the way the developers approached the topic and implemented their ideas on this one. In-game, that thought process is translated as the monster sparing or killing them. If they don't, the protagonist will likely see it as adding another notch to their "this is my fault, I let them die" bedpost. This can be seen as their moment of truth: whether the protagonist succeeds at resolving the situation, or they don't.

Then, at the height of it all, the monster-the culmination of all of the protagonist's worries-comes and grabs them, seemingly about to kill them. As the call marches on and the situation gets tenser, so does the protagonist's anxiety increase. They bear the blame even though it isn't theirs. Their partner's recent death hang over them still. It's such a cool little metaphor/visualisation of the dispatch officer's anxiety throughout the call. As the protagonist responds to Sophie's call, things in the background start changing (the lights turn on, writings appear on the wall, the bunny, etc.).
